Adorable Plush Toy Bear: In-the-Hoop Embroidery Project

This cute polar bear is stitched out in the hoop and sewn together on your sewing machine. Just following the step by step. 

Materials needed 

  • Embroidery machine 
  • Embroidery File
  • Embroidery software Basic level or higher 
  • Embroidery hoop 260x200mm or larger 
  • Tear away stabilizer 
  • Polar fleece 2 pieces 
  • Embroidery thread in black and red 
  • Sewing thread matching fleece 

How to make the project 

Stitching out the Embroidery 

  1. Hoop tearaway stabilizer in the hoop. 
  2. Place the first fabric piece in the hoop, right side up. 
  3. Load the embroidery to your machine and select fix or baste to hold the fabric piece in place. You can also use small pieces of masking tape in the corners of the fabric piece. 
  4. Stitch out color 1 (black) this will stitch out the face.

  5. Stitch out color 2 (red) this will make the heart embroidery.

  6. Put the other fabric piece on top in the hoop, right side down. Secure with tape if needed. 
  7. Change thread on top and bobbin to matching thread, in this case off-white. 
  8. Stitch out color 3 (Off white) This will create the main body part and legs, arms and ears.

  9. Remove the hoop from the machine and unhoop the finished embroidery. Remove all tearaway stabilizer. Be careful not to damage the stitching. 
  10. Cut out the body leaving about ¼" seam allowance.

  11. On the arms legs and ears seam allowance is already added. Cut at the edge of the stitching at the opening. Leave about 1/8” (3mm) seam allowance outside the sewn edge.

  12. Make a fold towards the center of the ears. Baste in place on your machine.

  13. Fill the arms and legs with small pieces of fiber fill Make a basting line about ¼" (6mm) from the raw edges.

  14. Put the arms, legs and ears in the opening of the body. Pin in place.

  15. Stitch all the way around the body, but leave an opening at the bottom of the body.

  16. Turn right side out and fill with fiber fill.

  17. Close the opening with hand sewn small stitches.
