Autumn Table Runner

Materials needed:
  • (3) 12”x14” cotton fabric to embroider on
  • (3) 2”x Width of fabric for borders
  • (1) 6” x 12” in four different fabrics for applique leaves
  • (3) 3” x width of fabric for binding
  • (1) 30” x 14” fabric for backing
  • (1) 30” x 14” fabric for back
  • Tear a way stabilizer
  • Tear a way Light (for cluster inked designs if available)
  • 5/8” quilt binder
  • Glue stick
  • Titanium embroidery needles (since we are using glue, you want to make sure you have titanium needles)
  • 200 x 200 Quilters hoop
  • 240 x150 Jewel Hoop

Momento:

Bring appliqué leaves up in the MySewnet crafting software.

To do this, download to designs onto the computer

  1. In the software press insert to sign from device.
  2. Open file of Autumn Table Runner Leaves (this is a ccm file and can only be opened from inside the software program)
  3. You do not want to change any sizes. The cut file is ready to send to the Momento.
  4. Press on output, which is the Momento up in the top right hand corner.
  5. Select fabric, quilting, cotton, then press next
  6. Insert your rotary blade into your Momento
  7. Place an appliqué fabric onto or 12 x 12 fabric mat.
  8. Use your brayer to help attach the fabric to the mat.
  9. On the Momento, move all pinch wheels to the left to make sure that they will all be on the 12 x 12 fabric mat.
  10. Insert the fabric mat.
  11. In the software, follow the steps to cut out the leaves in output. You may need to do a test cut.
  12. Once it is done with the first color, the second color will appear for you to cut. Continue this step until all four color leaves have been cut out.
Embroidery:
  1. Hoop stabilizer and fabric into a 200mm x 200mm Quilters hoop.
  2. Insert the autumn leaves embroidery design onto the embroidery machine.
  3. Press go. Do not color sort or color merge.
  4. If you brought the design in from the library, skip color number one, by touching the second color. The first color are not leaves, it is quilting stitches, that we are not going to use. If you are on a Wi-Fi enabled machine, turn on ghost mode.
  5. Stitch out color number two. This will give you the outline of where to lay the leaves, also known as placement stitches.
  6. Use a glue stick and glue the leaves on the placement stitches.
  7. Stitch out the next two colors. (3 & 4) these will be done with the same color.
  8. change thread to the second leaf color. Stitch out color number five. This is the placement stitch for the second color of leaves.
  9. Use the glue stick to glue down the second color of leaves
  10. Stitch out the next two colors (6 & 7)
  11. Continue these steps to finish the last two sets of leaves.
  12. When finished embroidering press back and delete the design off the screen.
  13. Hoop, stabilizer and fabric into a 240 x 150 Designer Jewel hoop
  14. Bring up the design of the Autumn Sumac Leaves Cluster Inked.
  15. If you have Tear a way light use two layers-this helps not pull at the stitches and tears off easier since this is a sketched design.
  16. Turn off the deluxe stitch system after you press go.
  17. You will embroider these designs two times.
Sewing:
  1. Trim down your embroidery designs. Appliqué fall leaves will be 10” x 10”.
  2. Sketch leaves will be 8” x 10” each
  3. Use your Designer Epic 3 or Epic Quilt 97. Go to specialty stitches floating stitches. Choose a floating stitch. Use the floating stitches to connect all three embroidery design side-by-side.
  4. Use quarter inch foot and attach binding strips to top and bottom of embroidery designs. Then attach on sides.
  5. True up (or trim to make even all around.
  6. Add batting and backing to the back. Use open toe or stitch and ditch foot to sew around in ditch of fabric and binding.
  7. Use 5/8” Quilt Binder and attach binding around Table Runner.
